How much does Google Ads cost? Media budget, cost per click and management fees

What does Google Ads cost in 2026? Media budget and management fees are separate. Learn how auctions and Quality Score work and what budget makes sense.

How much does Google Ads cost? The short answer

The question has two answers because you pay in two places. The first amount is the advertising budget paid to Google, with a recommended minimum of PLN 1,500 per month for a Search campaign. The second is the management fee: we charge PLN 1,500 for setup plus PLN 1,500 per month to manage the campaign.

The money goes to two different recipients, which is the central point. You pay the advertising budget directly to Google by card, and the entire amount goes towards clicks. The agency fee covers keyword research, account structure, creative work, exclusions and optimisation. The agency invoice does not include the media budget, and it should not.

Starting figures:

  • Google budget, Search campaign: from PLN 1,500 / month
  • Google budget, Performance Max or Shopping: from PLN 2,500 / month
  • Account and campaign setup: PLN 1,500 once
  • Campaign management: PLN 1,500 / month, minimum three-month agreement
  • One-off campaign without an ongoing agreement: PLN 600 + 10% of the budget
  • Cost per click: from a few dozen groszy to several dozen PLN, depending on the industry

The rest of this article explains why click costs vary so much, why a higher bid is not enough to win an auction, and what actually reduces your Google bill.

The two amounts clients most often confuse

Campaign conversations often start with: “I have PLN 2,000 for Google.” The next question is whether that means PLN 2,000 for ads or PLN 2,000 including management. Those are two very different situations.

The advertising budget funds an auction. You set a daily amount, and Google charges your card for the clicks received. There is no subscription or Search impression fee: you pay when someone clicks. You can turn the budget off at any time, and campaign spending stops that day.

The management fee pays for a person’s work: finding the phrases people actually use to search for your service, arranging ad groups, writing headlines, setting up conversion tracking, then checking the search terms report each week and removing what wastes money.

We never mix these amounts. You pay the advertising budget directly to Google from your own card and account. We add no markup and do not route it through our billing. The exception is a one-off campaign priced at PLN 600 plus 10% of the budget, with the commission clearly stated in the quote.

How the Google auction works and why a higher bid is not enough

Google Ads sells intent. Someone searches for “boiler replacement Białystok,” and an auction for a position above the organic results starts that instant. That is the fundamental difference from social media advertising, where you buy the attention of someone who was not searching for anything.

The auction does not simply reward the highest bidder. Position depends on Ad Rank, which can be simplified as bid multiplied by quality. Quality includes the expected click-through rate, how closely the ad matches the query, and what the visitor finds on the landing page. Google publishes an assessment of these elements as a Quality Score from 1 to 10.

The consequence shows up on the bill. An advertiser with a quality score of 8 can appear above a competitor scoring 4 while bidding substantially less. Two companies in the same industry, targeting the same keyword, can pay click rates that differ by a factor of two.

One built a proper landing page and matched the ad copy to the query. The other put every keyword in one group and sends traffic to the homepage.

That is why “we will raise the bids” is the worst possible response to poor results. Usually, it means someone has no plan to improve quality.

A quality gauge with its needle pointing up, a stack of tokens and three result-position bars: a higher Quality Score buys a higher position for less

Why one click costs PLN 0.40 and another costs PLN 40

There is no single market rate for a click. Anyone quoting an “average CPC in Poland” is guessing. The price depends on the value of a transaction and how many advertisers compete for the same query.

A hairdresser in a small town competes with three other salons for a phrase, and one appointment brings in PLN 80. A law firm targeting compensation-related searches competes with a hundred other firms, while one case is worth more than PLN 10,000. Google prices that difference.

In our experience, local services and niche phrases usually stay below PLN 1 per click, typical e-commerce clicks cost a few PLN, while finance, insurance, aesthetic medicine and law can consume a dozen or several dozen PLN for a single visit.

That money goes to Google, not the agency. Differences between industries can easily exceed tenfold. They cannot be reduced to one table that you sign as part of a contract.

Calculate this before asking about CPC: how much you can afford to pay for a customer. If a service earns PLN 400 in margin and one in ten clicks becomes an order, PLN 8 per click is still defensible. PLN 25 is not.

What actually reduces campaign costs

You lower your Google bill through work, not negotiation. Four things have the greatest effect:

  1. Keyword match type. Broad match casts a wide net and quickly spends the budget on unrelated queries. Exact and phrase match cost more per click but attract visitors closer to buying.
  2. Negative keywords. A negative keyword list is the cheapest optimisation in the account. “Free,” “jobs,” “free of charge,” “template,” “reviews” and competitor names can each consume hundreds of PLN a month before someone checks the search terms report.
  3. The landing page. An ad for “air conditioning installation” that leads to the homepage lowers quality and raises the bid. A dedicated landing page with that service in the headline, a prominent phone number and fast loading works both ways: clicks cost less and more of them convert.
  4. Ad assets, formerly extensions. Sitelinks, phone number, location and prices take up more space in the results and raise click-through rates. A higher CTR reduces cost per click.

The cheapest optimisation this week: open the search terms report and exclude everything that is not a query from your potential customer. It takes effect immediately and costs no extra, unlike raising bids.

There is also something whose effect becomes visible after a month: measurement. Without conversion tracking, you optimise blind. Setting up Google Analytics 4 and Tag Manager costs PLN 200 per tool with us and pays off faster than any bid change.

A sensible minimum budget and choosing the campaign type

A campaign needs data. The algorithm learns from conversions, and three conversions a month provide little to learn from. That is why we recommend at least PLN 1,500 per month paid to Google for a Search campaign. Below PLN 500 a month, the campaign gathers so few clicks that after a month you still cannot tell whether poor results come from the ad, the price or chance.

The second condition is at least three months. The first 2-3 weeks go into collecting data and cutting what does not work. A meaningful assessment comes in the second and third months. A shorter agreement means paying for the learning stage alone.

Search versus Performance Max: cost and control

A Search campaign gives you full control: you see which phrases trigger your ads and decide which to exclude. Performance Max reverses that arrangement. You let Google choose placements and audiences, gaining reach across Search, YouTube, Gmail and the Display Network, but with much less visibility into the details.

PMax can deliver cheaper conversions for a store with a large product feed. It needs more fuel, though: a sensible threshold is PLN 2,500 per month. For a local service business with one service, starting with Search is safer for the budget.

When Google Ads pays off and when SEO is cheaper

Google Ads buys traffic immediately. A campaign starts on Wednesday and the phone rings on Thursday. Turn the budget off, and the phone falls silent that day. It is a tool for seasonal sales, product launches, testing a new service and situations where you cannot wait.

SEO works differently. It starts at PLN 1,500 a month, with the first ranking changes after 3-6 months, but the position you earn keeps working after you stop adding investment. We explain the full price ranges and billing models in our article on SEO costs.

The simple rule is that the more expensive clicks are in your industry and the longer your time horizon, the more the calculation favours SEO. At PLN 20 per click, one month of a campaign can cost as much as a quarter of SEO. In a niche with cheap traffic and a short buying cycle, Ads wins decisively.

The most sensible combination uses Ads for purchase-intent keywords now, while SEO builds traffic around informational phrases. We also combine paid channels: alongside Search, YouTube advertising or Facebook and Instagram campaigns can make sense, depending on where your customers are.

Warning signs in Google Ads management proposals

A few things should prompt another question, or a polite refusal:

  • An advertising account owned by the agency. When the relationship ends, you lose the conversion history, remarketing lists and algorithm learning. The account should be yours, with access granted to the agency. For us, that is standard, not an option.
  • A fixed percentage of the budget as the only billing model. For ongoing management, a percentage rewards higher spending: the agency earns more from a bigger budget than from a cheaper conversion. Pay a fixed monthly rate for continuing account work. A one-off campaign with a clearly stated commission and budget in the quote is different: you know what you will pay before anything starts.
  • No conversion tracking. A campaign without goal measurement spends money on clicks without anyone knowing whether they achieved anything.
  • A guaranteed first position. Auctions have no permanent places. Guaranteed ad positions are fiction.
  • A report consisting of impression growth. Impressions do not pay invoices. What matters is CPC, customer acquisition cost and return on ad spend.

We optimise our campaigns every 14 days and report monthly, including CPC, cost per conversion, ROAS and a list of account changes. If something is not working, we tell you as soon as we make the correction, not three months later.

Summary: what to remember

Google Ads has two separate costs: the advertising budget goes directly to Google, and the management fee goes to the agency. They should never share an invoice. Click rates can differ tenfold between industries, so the figure worth calculating before launch is your maximum customer acquisition cost. You reduce the Google bill through account quality: keyword matching, negative keywords, the landing page and ad assets, rather than higher bids. A sensible starting point is PLN 1,500 a month for Search or PLN 2,500 for Performance Max, with at least three months because the first weeks go into learning. Check one thing in every proposal: the advertising account should belong to you, and the report should show cost per conversion, not just rising impressions.

FAQ: common questions about Google Ads costs

Five money questions we hear with almost every campaign quote. These are short answers; the sections above explain how it all works.

How much does agency management of Google Ads cost?

Account and campaign setup costs PLN 1,500 once, followed by PLN 1,500 per month for management with a minimum three-month agreement. A combined Google Ads and Meta Ads package costs PLN 2,500 for setup and PLN 2,500 per month. A one-off campaign without an ongoing agreement costs PLN 600 plus 10% of the advertising budget, delivered in 5-7 days. This pays for agency work and is separate from the budget paid to Google.

How much should you spend for a Google Ads campaign to make sense?

We recommend at least PLN 1,500 per month paid to Google for a Search campaign. For Performance Max and Shopping, a sensible threshold is PLN 2,500 per month because these formats need more data to learn. Below PLN 500 per month, the algorithm will not collect enough conversions to optimise effectively.

How much does one Google ad click cost?

Cost per click depends on the industry and can vary tenfold. Local services and niche keywords often cost less than PLN 1, e-commerce usually costs a few PLN, while finance, insurance and legal services can cost a dozen or several dozen PLN for one click. That money goes to Google, not the agency.

Does a higher bid guarantee a higher ad position on Google?

No. Position is determined by Ad Rank: the bid multiplied by ad quality and landing page relevance. An advertiser with well-matched keywords and a fast landing page can appear above a competitor bidding more. Good quality can reduce the amount actually paid per click.

Which is cheaper: Google Ads or SEO?

Google Ads brings traffic from day one, but it stops when the budget is turned off. SEO starts at PLN 1,500 per month and delivers its first results after 3-6 months, while established rankings keep working. With expensive clicks and a long-term outlook, SEO is cheaper; for quick seasonal sales, Google Ads has no substitute.

The key point: the Google budget and management fee are separate amounts, and you reduce Google’s bill through account quality, not higher bids. Have a question we have not answered? Email biuro@digidraft.pl. We reply within 24 business hours.
